We went for pumpkins on the east end this morning and decided to stop here for lunch. It was so good! No table service so we ordered and sat down. The seating was perfect for this beautiful fall day that felt like spring. We ended up ordering a bunch of small items to share and everything was really, really good! Favorites were the chicken quesadillas and nachos.
Funchos was an incredible experience. The food and service were both outstanding. We had a great time chatting with the owner, Al who was very friendly. We'll definitely be back!
Met up with a family member while they are camping around the area. Although Taco is not my kind of food, i was immediately drawn to the rusty, artsy appeal of the place. We order our food & pay for out food first then we look for our seat and wait there to have it delivered. Place is clean, no Ac but we came on a mild summer afternoon so we were omet. There are fans around but maybe not enough during the heatwave. So just bear that in mind. Food came hot, tasty but greasy as expected. They have home made hotsauce for the spicy lovers No bathroom, only porta potties. Theres an icecream area across, worth checking out if you still have space for dessert.
We stopped here after spending the day at the Long Island Aquarium. The food was great and the service was friendly. Seating is all outdoors so be prepared to sweat it out on a hot day like we did. The food made it well worth it. Warning: they only have a port-a-potty. Not incredibly family friendly but you can make do. Pro tip: walk across the parking lot to the ice cream shop for dessert after!
I have been a loyal customer since 2001 due to the quality and consistency of the food. The owner, Alfanso always greets you with a smile. The El Greco taco has a generous portion of chicken compared to other places I have ordered from. After your meal, enjoy a cup of Mexican hot chocolate. There's a hint of spice that warms your palate. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing.
I've said it once on this account and I'll say it again... Funchos is one of the best places I have found so far since moving to Long Island. The food here is remarkably fresh and authentically prepared. You can immediately sense the time that goes into crafting each dish, evident in all the flavors. I (naturally) drifted towards all things Birria, and let me tell you, the empanadas were just as good as they always are. Crunchy but so tender and yummy in the middle. The sauce accompanying the tacos is nothing short of heavenly. The restaurant's decor adds to the overall charm. During covid they put time and effort into expanding their outdoor area. Take a look at those adorable table tiles - they're just the icing on the cake of the decor. We ordered: - guac and chips - Birria empanadas - Birria tacos - TQM - Hanalei Still need to come back for a marg though.......
I came to this place while in town for a few days because I liked how the pictures displayed a cool Mexican funky vibe. You order at the window and take a number then find seating. The patio seating was covered for the most part and it was cool outside. I got the chicken burrito and a pina colada. I was too hungry to snap a picture of the burrito but it was a generous size. It honestly tasted like the chipotle burritos. The pina colada did taste pretty good though. It's a cute little spot off the main road, I would give it another try when back in Long Island.
